I remember seeing this book on the shelf at the bookstore that I frequented as a teenager. The cover intrigued me enough to buy it and thus started my love of fantasy fiction. This book ended up sparking my interest in writing my own fantasy novels. I recently re-read the trilogy and found them a bit light and somewhat juvenile at times, (the authors seem to have a rather lame sense of humor) but certainly not the worst fantasy novels I have read.

Stay far away from this book

I read this when I was teenager. I honestly remember little of this novel. I cared very little for Raistlin and Tanis' dilemma over choosing Kit or Laurana. It seemed an easy choice to me. I thought Tas was annoying and distracting to the storyline and Caramon's co-dependency on Raistlin was boring. I read for the character of Laurana and Silvara, the wild elf who was actually a silver dragon in disguise. The fact that the god paladine, acts like a bumbling wizard meddling in the human affairs is a ridiculous attempt at humor and fails miserably.
